The Brief


Bullring will be 20 years old on the fourth of September this year! To generate some PR they would like to work with you to visualise ‘the Bullring of the future’.


Deliverable.

A visual / model / piece of creative work, plus a short write-up / rationale. The piece could be an exterior or interior interpretation of ‘the Bullring of the future’… the more varied, wild and weird the better!






My Rationale.

I started the piece with one simple idea in mind, a positive future alien to a lot of the media I had seen growing up. More commonly when I think of the future, I think metallic, cold. dark and cyberpunk in nature, very much lacking in 'nature'. As exciting as it all looked it was never a future I wanted to see come to fruition. We have enough cold steel, mines and disconnected tech to last us 10 lifetimes. I saw this as an opportunity to explore the possible future of Solar Punk, living In and among nature while still retaining the visual of the Bullring. Seeing it as one spot out of many in which flora could lay in abundance.

Inspired by its open roofing, the interior made a perfect space for a life-giving tree. This would be the centre of the piece. I made many versions of the piece, from flat to realistic illustrations to best convey the idea. In the end, I settled on something a little alien, in colour scheme and setting. A convergence between human and alien plant life, with a utopic balance all around.
