The Wolves Art Club is the greatest project I’ve worked on so far, born on a desire to build a community space in wolverhampton, it’s grown into an event with a fairly regular audience.  Wolves Art Club is both a cultural project and a foundation for my artistic practice. It taught me that the spaces around art can be as important as the artworks themselves and that gathering, participation and community can be creative practices in their own right.

Founder & Creative Director
Wolverhampton, UK | [2023–Present]

Wolves Art Club is an independent contemporary arts platform I founded in Wolverhampton to create accessible opportunities for artists, audiences and communities to come together through art, conversation and cultural activity.

The project grew from an interest in creating a different kind of cultural space in the city: informal, social and artist-led, while still providing a platform for ambitious contemporary work. Rather than treating audiences as passive recipients, Wolves Art Club was developed as a space for participation, exchange and relationship-building.

As founder and creative director, I developed the programme from concept through to delivery, working across curation, artist relationships, partnerships, event production, communications, audience development and community engagement. The programme brought together exhibitions, events and creative activity, working with artists and partners to develop experiences that were relevant to local audiences.

Over the course of the project, I delivered 90+ events and activities, reaching 900+ bookings and participants, while developing relationships with artists, cultural organisations, community groups and other local partners.

The project has shaped my wider artistic practice by demonstrating my interest in the relationship between art, place and community. It has also informed an emerging practice that moves between visual art, publishing, music and cultural gathering, with a particular interest in how people create belonging through shared cultural experiences.
